Australian Open 2012 – 12 Jan

Day 5 – Party Pies and Donuts

I decided to go with raisin toast for breakfast. Solid choice. We received our jumpers today. The official Wilson jumpers did not make the shipment so we have been supplied with bright, bright orange Lacoste jumpers. This could happen soon enough. It was cold and rainy again this morning. Not great tennis weather.

Tadashi does an interview about stringing Nishikori’s racquets. He is playing with a new Luxilon string called 4G. Apparenty this is not information that was meant to be released. The interview is now all over Youtube. We have no information on the string other than the name. The Luxilon guy will not give us any details. Nishikori used to play with Alu power Fluoro so we are speculating that it is a soft poly but this is only a guess. Without playing with it there is no way of knowing.

I did racquets for Sam Querrey today. He is now using Aero Pro Drives but requests no stencils. Which means that he is stencilling the racquets himself or that he does not have a deal with Babolat. He used to use Prince racquets.

The stringers room lunch today is party pies, sausage rolls, mini hotdogs and donuts. There is so much food. After lunch I do not eat for the rest of the day.

I still have not had to do an on-court racquet. It is a steady afternoon. I only need one red Bull for the day and head back to the hotel at 9.30.
