Dear Parents,
As we head into the last term of the year, I wanted to remind you all of a few important dates coming up this term.
1. PERFORMANCE SUNDAY SESSIONS and MAKE UP DAYS

These will take place on the Sundays of week 5 and 9.  The first being Sunday 8th November at MORNINGSIDE from 9-11am and the second on Sunday 6th December at Shaw Park from 9-11am.

I will send a reminder email out the week before for everyone to confirm their attendance.

2. TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

There are a number of tournament options this term for all level of players.  It would be great to see as many of our squad players entering these events and competing.

We will aim to offer tournament assistance at some of these events depending on numbers and interest from parents.

The events this term to look out for:

1.  Junior Tour (JT) Eastside Classic at Morningside 24th and 25th October – Bronze Event – Entries close this Friday 9th October so please click here to enter:

2. QLD U12/U14 Australian Championship Qualifying Event – QTC – 31st October and 1st November

3. Junior Develeopment Series (JDS) – Wynnum – 1st and 8th November – Entries close 18th November

5. Northside Classic JT – Matchpoint Tennis Centre – 21st and 22nd November – White Event

6. QLD Junior Teams Carnival JT – QTC – 12th-16th December – Gold Event

3. ROCKHAMPTON / BUNDABERG TOUR

We had a very successful trip to Rocky and Bundy with 13 players, 2 coaches and 1 super mom attending the trip.  The kids all played a bunch of matches including singles and doubles and with the fantastic weather were kept busy every day.

I do believe these types of tours are where kids learn a great deal, not only about tennis but life skills too, and it was interesting to to get to know the characteristics of every individual a little bit more and watch them all compete daily.

The feedback from the trip was very positive and we hope to build on this trip in the future.

4. COORDINATION / AGILITY SESSIONS – FITNESS

A reminder to all parents who’s children are on packages to please encourage them to attend the coordination and agility fitness sessions.  They are included in your package so please take advantage of this!  These are an important part of your kids programme, not only for their tennis, but also their general physical development.

The times remain the same and will take place for Shaw Park players on a Monday and Wednesday from 4-4.30 for the Junior Squad, and on a Wednesday from 5.15-6pmfor the older squad.  At Morningside the session will run on a Thursday from 4-4.30pm.

5. SQUAD SESSION PLANS

I have attached the session plans for our squads this term for those that may be interested.  While drills will differ according to age and level, these themes will remain the same for all squads.
We are looking forward to a successful last term of 2015 and will continue to push our players with hard work, effort, intensity and fun as our main goals.
It has been great to see a number of players down at the centres hitting with friends and family during the holidays.  Don’t forget you have free access to courts, so please use this to your advantage when you have time.
I look forward to seeing you around the centres soon,
