Shaw Park CLUB Committee

Newly formed.  Looking for members!

The Shaw Park CLUB was recently formed by a group of parents and members of the community who are interested in building a “club” feel around the tennis centre.  The club is attempting to access grants and fundraising to add value for the players at the Shaw Park Tennis Centre.

Committee Members are: Lisa Stanaway – President; Quyen Nguyen – Secretary; Jill James – Treasurer; Tammy Ellis– Grants; Tom Tam– Events Co-ordinator

The Club hopes to reduce the cost of the trip to Rockhampton & Bundaberg State Age Tournaments for junior club members by providing an opportunity to raise some funds with a Cadbury Chocolate Drive.  Please see flyer attached for more info.

A Club membership form has also been attached if you are interested in joining the club.  If you would like sell some chocolates to assist with financing this trip, please contact the club either via email shawparktennisclub@gmail.com or 0409 343 686 (Lisa) or see one of our committee members around the centre.

The information night will provide details regarding the process of applying for scholarships, the athletic and academic requirements and what a student can expect from a scholarship.  This night is being offered free to our Club members, non-members $5

UNIFORM SQUAD TIMES

Monday, Wednesday, Friday

4.30-6.00pm | 6.00-7.30pm

As most of our parents and players now know, there is now more choice in the days that you can attend our squad tennis lessons.

We now have Development Squads in two time slots on three days of the week.  Sessions are available for our younger players at 4.30pm–6.00pm on all three days.  And a later time for our older squad players from 6.00pm-7.30pm.

Junior Development  Developing junior tennis players should include a balance of tennis throughout their week.  A combination of private lessons, squads

and competition ensures that each player is developing whilst spending quality, structured time on court.

Tennis Australia recommends aspiring junior players to be on court for approx the same amount of hours per week as their age.  Example 12 years old = 12 hours on court per week.

Our squad players are encouraged to use their FREE daytime court hire to come and practice with each other on Sundays to increase their time on court.

CONGRATS TO OUR SUPERLEAGUE WINNERS

Division Finalists!

Well done to our junior players that were finalists in the Saturday Super League Teams.  Aston Greensil, James Tam, Ben Waugh and Nick Clegg were finalists in JL3 for the Shaw Scorchers.  Max Parkinson, Matthew Bond, Stuart Crombie and Remy Casey were finalists in JL5 for the Shaw Dynamos.

Congrats also goes to Will Barnes who was selected to represent North Brisbane in the Queensland Schoolboys Championships.

ASKING FOR FEEDBACK

What do you think about our Development Squad Program?

Our coaches and staff are committed to improving the quality of our squads.  We enjoy developing junior players and aim to provide a first class coaching service.  Please let us know any thoughts you may have regarding your child’s tennis development.  We would like to hear positive and constructive feedback from our players and parents.
