Coaching Style:
I see coaching as a journey with each player and through our shared passion and effort we learn and improve together. I like to show my athletes why we are doing each drill, skill or game and how it fits into the bigger picture. I feel very excited as my students improve, especially as they begin to appreciate the nuances of tennis that higher skill levels can achieve.
Experience:
I joined the Tennis and Gear team 11 years ago and shortly afterwards helped create the tennis program at the brand new Shaw Park Tennis Centre. Previously I was the tennis coordinator at St Aidan’s Anglican Girl’s School from 2001-2006. Prior to that I worked in the capacity as acting manager and Head Coach for the Queensland Lawn Tennis Association at the Milton Tennis Centre until 1999.

Michael Morton: Senior Coach

My belief in coaching is to teach young children to learn and enjoy the game. I enjoy doing this by making sure my lessons are fun and entertaining as well as teaching them the basic fundamentals of tennis so that they can develop their game to the best of their ability. I take pride in the work I do working with all levels of players and enjoy the challenge of helping them improve.
Experience:
Michael joined TennisGear in November 2016. He previously worked at ‘Slice’ Tennis and since joining TennisGear has become an integral part of the Shaw Park coaching team. Michael has a decent playing background and still enjoys playing Fixture tennis in Division 1.

Senior Coach : Matthew Webb:
Matt is a Tennis Australia qualified coach and has a background in cricket and tennis played at Villanova College in Brisbane. He was guided and coached as a junior under our own coach Ross Orford. Matt is dividing his time coaching between the Shaw Park Tennis Centre and the Roy Emerson Tennis Centre and attending University where he studies Business. He has developed a strong following of juniors across both venues and Clayfield College. Matt coaches the Clayfield girl’s teams and led them to a regional victory where they played at the 2013 Brisbane International.
Rhys Hoole: Junior Coach
Coaching Style:
I believe that through nurturing and maintaining a fun and highly enjoyable learning environment on court, I can successfully develop my student’s skills and positive on court experiences to help them realise their passion for the game of tennis. I thoroughly enjoy seeing progression in the playing abilities of all my students however I take great pride in seeing all of my players develop as people and continue to grow their passion and love for sport and life in general. I believe that progression within the game of tennis stems directly from a passion for engaging and applying oneself with all aspects of the game.
Experience:
Rhys joined Tennis Gear in April of 2017 as a junior coach mentoring under Dom Andrews (Hotshots Coordinator). Rhys has significant experience and exposure within the game of tennis, with over a decade of playing experience. Rhys predominantly works within Tennis Gear’s Hotshots program and within the Padua College tennis program.

Shane brings a wealth of experience to his Accounts position having complete a Bachelor in Commerce. He is a customer service specialist for all of our Tennis Centre’s and keeps our operations running smoothly. His role is to prioritise ensuring your fortnightly payments are correct. Team Director : Mark Bloomfield
Mark is the owner and operator of Tennis Gear, a tennis centre management team that operates four of Australia’s largest and most successful tennis centres – Playford City Tennis Centre, Shaw Park Tennis Centre, Morningside Tennis Centre and the Roy Emerson Tennis Centre. All centre’s boast premier tennis pro-shops, offering the best customer service and highest level of tennis equipment knowledge. Mark has recently been appointed as the President of Tennis Queensland and as a former President of Tennis Brisbane and tennis coach, Mark has proven results in growing the game of tennis and business acumen. Mark and his team have a passion for the future of success of tennis and delivering a first class tennis centre management operation to the tennis community.
General Manager : Gareth Keating
Gareth has returned to Brisbane after 11 years playing and coaching overseas. After a strong junior career in Queensland, he was awarded a scholarship in the USA to play 4 years of Div 1 College tennis. After completing a Business degree, Gareth worked for 5 years coaching at a high performance academy in Nice, France. Recently Gareth has worked as a travelling/touring coach for some of the top doubles players in the world, travelling to the Grand Slams and other pro tournaments. A recognised “Talent Development Coach”, Gareth is now responsible for all of the Tennis Gear clubs and programs: at the Shaw Park Tennis Centre, Morningside Tennis Centre, Roy Emerson Tennis Centre and the Playford City Tennis Centre.
Gary Ward: Business Development Manager
Gary is responsible for growing and developing all areas of the business. Gary has a strong history of working with children and has 15+ years of experience as a Kindergarten teacher. He also has a keen interest in sport having worked as Football Development Officer for New Zealand Football. Tennis Gear is excited and lucky to have Gary and his wide range of skills and experience onboard.
Damian Roberts: Coach and Development Manager
